TTC Terms

This is new... more to come!

Think of this as a little dictionary, in no particular order (maybe one day I'll alphabetize)...

TTC- trying to conceive

IUI- Intra-uterine insemination

IVF- In-vitro fertilization

BFN- Big fat negative (negative pregnancy test)

BFP- Big fat positive (positive pregnancy test... what all TTCers want!!)

RE- Reproductive Endocrinologist (Fertility Dr.)

SA- Semen Analysis (every guy's fav test)

AF- Aunt Flo (your period)

Beta- Blood test to determine a BFN or BFP

2WW- Two week wait (the longest 2 weeks ever, the 2 weeks between ovulation and a pregnancy test, where you can do nothing but hope and try not to go insane)

ICSI- Intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (one way they fertilize the eggs). Half of ours were ICSI.

PIO- Progesterone in oil injections

SubQ- Subcutaneous injection (in the fat... in my case, in my belly, easy peasy)

IM- Intramuscular injection (in the muscle... in my case, in my hip/butt)

Stims- Stimulation drugs- the shots you take to develop lots of eggs before retrieval

IUs or CCs- the measurement of how much liquid is injected into your body

PUPO- Pregnant until proven otherwise (like after an embryo transfer... definite life is inside you, so you're technically pregnant until the doom of the beta blood test says so, or says otherwise)
